- Each city of Rajasthan has got its unique heritage importance. The National Tourism policy 2002, reiterates heritage as a major component for the achievement of the tourism vision, making the important connection between conservation and preservation of Indian Heritage and sustainable development. 31 principles cities have been selected for this scheme namely: -
1-Ajmer, 2-Alwar, 3-Baswara, 4-Bharatpur, 5-Bikaner, 6-Bundi, 7-Chhabra, 8-Chittorgarh, 9-Chomu, 10-Deeg, 11-Dugarpur, 12-Fatehpur, 13-Jaisalmer, 14-Jhalawar, 15-Jhunjhnunu, 16-Jodhpur, 17-Kota, 18-Mandava, 19-Nawalgarh, 20-Puskar, 21-Sawaimodhpur, 22-Sikar, 23-Udaipur, 24-Pilibanga, 25-Churu, 26-Khetri, 27-Ratannagar, 28-Kama, 29- Nathdwara, 30- Jhalawar 31- Jaipur of historical, heritage and tourist importance were selected for Heritage Conservation initiatives
The district level committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of District Collector and this committee sanctions the heritage development plan/proposals. In this scheme 276 works have been sanctioned out of which 215 works has been completed and remaining works are under progress.
The planning department has made a token provision of Rs 0.01 lacs in Annual Plan 2008-09.
